Across the U.S., there are now more than 160 cohousing communities and more on the way, according to the Cohousing Association of America. No matter what stage of the exploration process you’re in, it’s important to connect with others who can guide you through the process.

THE COHOUSING ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED STATES is the godfather of all of the resources online, with a directory, classified ads, and the cohousing conference, it should be your starting point when you are looking to connect with others in the broader world of cohousing.


With resources for finding and running intentional communities, is a particularly useful resource for learning about and running communities founded on values and connection. While its purview is broader than just cohousing, its broad range of content (videos, blog, podcasts, etc.) should be on your radar.


This book by Katie McCamant and Chuck Durrett is THE “cohousing bible” and features case studies, design principles, and advice.
